Fleas and dogs go together like Apple Pie and Ice Cream. The problem with fleas is if you don’t nip them in the bud early, they reproduce and infest your house, down to the deepest levels of your carpet.
A month or so ago, I was lucky enough to find in one of our local pet stores, not only flea shampoo but Frontline flea and tick treatments. You know, the kind that you spread on the dog’s shoulders? So I’ve been bathing dear sweet Asche in the shampoo. Boy, she’s getting so big so quickly that I really need one of those nifty walk in bath tubs to get her in and out. Really, my back won’t be able to take lifting her fat behind much longer.
But my friend was telling me her mother is allergic to just about everything. So she searched high and low for some natural flea treatments. I thought I’d share them with you. And come tomorrow, on payday, I will give at least one of these a try.
First natural flea treatment is garlic. Grocery stores sell those little jars of minced garlic in garlic juice. Just take a teaspoon’s worth of garlic and spread it on the dog’s food. This is a natural flea repellent.
The other natural cure is brewer’s yeast. You do the same thing as the garlic and mix a small amount in with the food. She cautions that you will have to vacuum thoroughly and often, as the little buggers are especially repelled by this. Eggs will hatch prematurely.
So there you have it, two natural treatments to keep your pet flea-free.
Great ideas,I have never heard of them before.but the big question..does the garlic have any adverse effects like wind.Just asking.LOL
